Seasons spotlight is a chance for us to show off the taste and style of members within the Seasons community. This week, Jay Choyce Tibbitts shares his affection for runway fashion, downtown NYC style and the memorable moment he became a Seasons subscriber.

What do you do for school/work?

I work in digital media as a creative strategist. Essentially, I work with clients across industries to come up with the strategic direction, social media plans, and creative assets. It was actually through work that I discovered Seasons! In addition to my "day job," I am a content creator/blogger and stylist.

How long have you lived in New York City?

I moved to New York for business school in 2015. I came from San Diego and was ready for a change of pace. After five years here, I have no plans to leave the city anytime soon.

What is your favorite season?

No doubt, Fall/Winter. Everyone is always surprised by this, especially when they find out I'm a born and raised Californian. That meme "can't wait till it gets colder so i can really start dressin" perfectly describes my feelings towards the chillier seasons. Coats, beanies, boots, and sweaters are all my wardrobe staples.

How would you describe your taste in clothing?

Honestly, it's very eclectic and depends on the day. Based on where I'm going or how I'm feeling, it can range from classic and clean to edgier and on-trend. I love high fashion and designer pieces, which I think of as collectibles, but will also mix in trendier pieces from affordable brands.

What influences your style?

I'm inspired by the runway, fashion weeks, and what is happening in the high-fashion world. At the same time, I think there is so much inspiration that comes from street style and everyday dressing. One of my favorite things to do is people watch in places like the Lower East Side and SoHo. The style downtown is always really inspiring, even if I don't think I'm cool enough to dress like that. Of course, traveling and picking up trends from other cultures is huge. Hong Kong, Paris, and South Korea are some of my favorite places to look for style influences.

Who are some of your favorite designers/brands right now?

I've been a fan of Kim Jones since his Louis Vuitton days, so I've loved his last few collections at Dior. Every season I find myself drooling over Kim's take on RTW and accessories, and have been lucky enough to add a few to my collection. Acne Studios is another favorite of mine. Their pieces are always super classic and clean, which is how my overall style has been evolving in recent years. We could talk about Bottega Veneta… but honestly, who isn't right now? I've been really impressed by Daniel Lee and how he has revitalized the brand since becoming creative director. Other favorites of mine include Martin Rose, Nanushka, Bed JW Ford, Balenciaga, and Jacquemus. There are also a lot of up-and-coming brands like GmbH, Deveaux, and Pyer Moss that I've been eying.

How long have you been a Seasons member for?

I got that "Welcome to Seasons" email in February of 2020. The funniest part about it is that when the email came through, I was seconds away from checking out on a big online shopping order. Let me just say... I have gotten way more value from my Seasons membership than I would have from those few pieces that were in my shopping cart.

How would you rate your membership with Seasons so far?

I have been waiting for a service like Seasons for years, and it has been everything I could have wanted. I think anyone who likes to switch up their wardrobe would benefit from a Seasons membership. I especially find it valuable because it allows me to try new styles and brands without significant financial commitments. The sustainability aspect of renting is also incredible and is an easy way to do your part as a consumer.

Do you have a favorite piece from the Seasons catalog?

I currently have the Val. Kristopher Double Hood Hoodie, which I have to force myself not to wear everyday while working from home. The fit is next level, and it feels more like a weighted blanket than a hoodie. I love anything deconstructed, so the design is an A+ from me. I'll be sad to see it go, but I know there will be just as great a piece coming in!
